Why SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
Today we are living in an era where we search for almost each and every product and service on the Internet and search engines like Google, Ask, MSN, and Yahoo etc. have played a significant role in saving our time and making our lives easier.
It is interesting therefore, to examine the role of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for website traffic. In order to do so, the concepts of SEO and website traffic must first be clarified. SEO is a method by means of which one can improve the quantity and quality of traffic to a website from various search engines. On the other hand, the volume of data that is received and sent by visitors to a website is referred to as Website Traffic. The two parameters that are used to determine web traffic are the number of pages of a website that are visited and the number of visitors. Website traffic constitutes a large part of Internet Traffic. It is evaluated to ascertain the popularity of websites and individual pages or sections within a site.
One of the ways to increase website traffic is to place or submit a website on the popular search engine. It is evident therefore, that website traffic is dependent on SEO. The goal of all online advertising is to formulate the SEO strategy in a way that not only gets traffic but drives relevant traffic that also converts into sales or leads and guarantees increased profitability for the client or the website. Sometimes the data gathered by monitoring the website traffic is used to help highlight security problems. This also indicates problems like a potential lack of bandwidth or structure of the websites like missing links or poorly structured pages.
By optimizing the keywords in the content of websites, the relevant website traffic will view the webpage when they search for a product or service on a search engine. This SEO processes will direct the website traffic to a particular website that contains the words typed by a person in the search field of a search engine. It is very important for a website to get proper placement on a search engine. This is because, if a web page is not listed in the first page of a search engine, very few people will be able to find it and the traffic will be directed to the other relevant websites that appear on the first page. Thus, search engine optimization plays a very crucial role for website traffic, which in turn determines the popularity of a website.
But technology has a flip side to it and similarly too much web traffic can cause a radical slowdown and even prevent all access to a particular website. This happens when the server is unable to handle too many file requests that exceeds its limit. Also, it may be caused by over-popularity or it could be an intentional attack on the site. Though smaller services are affected by traffic overload, the large scale websites with numerous servers can often cope with such traffic overload.
Furthermore, emergence of social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Flickr and so on and their popularity has thrown open myriad opportunities before website owners for traffic growth. This is done through SEO on the pages of these social networking websites.

Interesting, I`ll quote it on my site later.
